I am humbled and honored to write a letter of recommendation for Stephen Campbell and his organization, SCS Northwest Evidence Management Accreditation. I do not get asked often to do so, much less for such a notable and respected person. Mr. Campbell’s training, experience, mentorship, and dedication to national best practices serve as a trusted resource to law enforcement agencies and other organizations across the nation.
As a supervisor in a previously accredited agency, and now as a consultant for the Property and Evidence Section at the University of Colorado Boulder (CUPD) Police Department, I have had the privilege of working with Mr. Campbell in his role as an accreditor. After leaving my supervisory position, I accepted a role as a property and evidence consultant to assist CUPD with SCS Northwest accreditation. Simply stated, I owe my ability to become a consultant, to include my knowledge and expertise, to Mr. Campbell and his eagerness and willingness to share his knowledge. As an example, when the department has a question about property and evidence that I may be unsure of, I can reach out to Mr. Campbell and in a short amount of time, he responds with positivity and his professional and expert opinion, simply because he loves what he does. Mr. Campbell is a consummate professional and, in my opinion, he is the leading national expert in property and evidence accreditation.
In my time in the property and evidence field, Mr. Campbell has been the most knowledgeable accreditation expert I have had the privilege of working with. Mr. Campbell strives to stay current in national best practices and is an excellent mentor. He is an exceptional communicator and his excitement for property and evidence is represented in his work.
I also need you to know the type of person Mr. Campbell is. His drive and determination are an inspiration and he is constantly striving towards success. Taking “shortcuts” is not an option for Mr. Campbell and you can rest assured he will work patiently with your department to navigate problems and to present workable solutions. Your department can guarantee that his stamp of approval is of the highest standard. He manages to do this all while maintaining his professionalism, kindness, and sense of humor.
I am proud to have worked with Mr. Campbell and I am confident that my past and current departments are operating daily under the gold standard and rigor of the SCS Northwest accreditation requirements. As someone who has not only worked with Mr. Campbell but who also has over a decade of experience in the Criminal Justice field, I can say with confidence that obtaining accreditation under Mr. Campbell and SCS Northwest guarantees that your department’s property and evidence unit will be a success.
